Functions of the Division
FT (NAFTA) Division of the Department of Commerce deals with India’s bilateral trade with United States of America, Canada and Mexico. All the three countries are signatories to the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) (signed in 1994) and form one of the largest and the most important trading blocks of the world, now rechristened as USMCA since July, 2020.

USA
1. India- US Commercial Dialogue (CD): It is held annually along with CEO forum, co-chaired by the HCIM and U.S. Secretary of Commerce. It focuses on cooperation in standards, tourism, business climate, etc
2. India-US Trade Policy Forum (TPF): India-US Trade Policy Forum (TPF), announced in July 2005, is designed to expand bilateral trade and investment relations between India and the United States. This Forum has been instrumental in creating an institutional mechanism to resolve a host of trade issues between the two nations.
