GeM To Soon Onboard Start-UPS

New Delhi, 13th December 2018

The Government e-Market (GeM) and Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) are in the process of developing a PoC corner for start-ups and will soon be able to onboard start-ups on the GeM platform. This will be a launch pad for start-ups in the country to access government market and give them a chance to sell on the GeM platform. Government users will be able to try out the innovative products and services offered by start-ups on a trial basis and give feedback.

India to Chair Kimberley Process from 1st January 2019

The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) Plenary 2018, was held in Brussels, Belgium, from 12th-16th November 2018. EU handed over the Chairmanship of KPCS to India from 1st January, 2019.

Commerce Minister leads delegation for RCEP meet in Singapore

The Union Minister for Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, is leading the delegation for the meeting for trade Ministers of RCEP member countries which is taking place in Singapore on November 12-13, 2018.

Sugar exports from India to China to begin soon

New Delhi, 8th November 2018

Export of raw sugar from India to China will begin early next year. A contract for exporting 15,000 tonnes of raw sugar has been entered to by the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) and COFCO, a Government of China run public sector company.

This is due to the initiative taken by the Ministry of Commerce and several rounds of meetings held by officials of both countries the import of raw sugar has materialized now.

India’s country pavilion at CIIE in Shanghai showcases India’s strength

On the invitation of China’s Ministry of Commerce, India has set up a Country Pavilion in the 1st China International Import Expo (CIIE) which was inaugurated today at the National Exhibition & Convention Centre, Shanghai, China. During the Joint Economic Group Meeting held in Delhi in March 2018, China’s Commerce Minister Mr Zhong Shan had extended an invitation to participate in this event.

Commerce Minister Meets Russian Delegation

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, met a high level Russian business delegation on Saturday in New Delhi. Discussions were held on increasing investments and business engagements with Russia.

Five more rice mills cleared for exports to China

New Delhi, 25th October 2018

Five more rice mills have been cleared for exporting non-basmati rice, from India to China, taking the total to 24 rice mills. The first consignment of non-basmati rice, of 100 tonnes, was shipped to China, from Nagpur, in September this year.

In May this year, officials from China inspected rice mills that are capable of exporting non-basmati rice to China and 19 rice mills and processing units were registered for export to China.
