EP-Textiles Coordination Division
Functions of the Division

EP-Textiles Coordination Division functions as a facilitator for promotion of textiles and apparel exports in coordination with Ministry of Textiles, textiles export promotion councils and the industry stakeholders. The major subjects handled by the Division are as given below:

  • Policy and Strategy making with regard to the Promotion of Exports of Textiles.
  • VIP References/Parliament Starred/Unstarred Questions
  • Periodical reports being submitted to O&M Section.
  • Furnishing of information called by other Sections of the Ministry for replies to Parliament Questions, etc.
  • Processing of grievances received from various exporters in respect of MAI grants, etc.
  • Coordination with Ministry of Textiles and other Ministries/Departments.
  • Acceptance of Project Reports of EPCs(Textiles) Sectors
  • To review Plan Schemes and other programmes of Department of Commerce relating to export promotion in textile sectors.
  • Processing of the Project proposals submitted by EPCs (Textiles) for financial assistance under MAI Scheme.
  • Matters relating to the release of payment under MAI scheme.

Trade Statistics for Textiles

The domestic apparel & textile industry in India contributes approx. 2% to the country’s GDP, 7% of industry output in value terms. India holds 4% share of the global trade in textiles and apparel. The share of Textiles and apparel in overall export basket of India was 10.33% during 2021-22.
