ECGC Pays Dividend of Rs. 72.50 Cr.

New Delhi, 14th Aug 2017

Commerce and Industry Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman acknowledged on behalf of Government of India a dividend of Rs. 72.50 Cr from ECGC Limited for the year 2016-17. ECGC has a made a profit before tax of Rs. 407 Cr after settling claims to exporter and banks for Rs. 865 Cr. Gross premium income declined by 4% despite the introduction of average discount of 17% to exporters with effect from April 2017. The net worth of the company rose to Rs. 3619 Cr and the investment amount were Rs. 8025 Cr.

Launch of GeMSamvad: The GeM -Industry forum

An MoU was signed today between Government eMarketplace (GeM) SPV and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in the presence of Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce & Industry Minister at Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi. Smt S Radha Chauhan, CEO GeM and Sh Chandrajit Banerjee, DG, CII singed the MoU on behalf of GeM SPV and CII respectively.

Tea Production For 2016-17

Tea Board has finalised the production of tea in India for 2016-17 and arrived at 1250.49 M Kgs as against 1233.14 M Kgs, which is an increase of 17.35 M kgs (1.41%) as compared to last year. North India production increased substantially in June, September and November as compared to its corresponding period, resulting in increase of production in 2016-17. The tea production has reached highest ever in Indian Tea Industry.

Buyer Seller Meet on Mangoes on 5th -6th June at Mumbai

APEDA is organizing a Buyer Seller Meet (BSM) on 5th -6th June, 2017 at Mumbai. The programme will facilitate the interaction of Buyers of mangoes from China, Japan, Australia, Iran, Mauritius, South Korea and Dubai with the concerned Government officials of mango exporting states and the mango exporters. About 30 leading importers from their countries are exported to participate in the event.

Commerce Minister reiterates that GeM is the most transparent, accountable and efficient public procurement portal

Commerce and Industry Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman has reiterated that GeM is the most transparent, accountable and efficient public procurement portal and has already resulted in savings of crores of Rupees to the Government. In a press conference today she strongly denied the charges levelled against GeM by the Congress Party.
