Implementation of the expanded India-Chile PTA
New Delhi, 14th May, 2017
India and Chile have entered into another milestone in their trade relations as an agreement on expansion of India-Chile PTA which was signed on 6th September, 2016 is finally being implemented on 16th May, 2017. The Union Cabinet had approved the expansion of PTA in April, 2016.
The expanded PTA would immensely benefit both sides as a wide array of concessions has been offered by both sides on a number of tariff lines which will facilitate more two way trade.
Index Numbers of Wholesale Price in India (Base: 2011-12=100) Review for the month of August, 2017

The official Wholesale Price Index for ‘All Commodities’ (Base: 2011-12=100) for the month of August, 2017 rose by 0.8 percent to 114.8 (provisional) from 113.9 (provisional) for the previous month.

The Minister for Commerce and Industry, Shri Suresh Prabhu arrived in the Republic of Korea on September 21, to participate in the 7th Asia-Europe (ASEM) Economic Ministers meeting and the 3rd Joint Ministerial Review of the India-Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This is just the second visit of the Minister after he assumed his current Ministerial charge.

The Chief Minister of the Malaysian state of Selangor, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Bin Ali, along with a 10-member delegation of the Selangor Investment Mission, met the Commerce and Industry Minister, Shri Suresh Prabhu, in New Delhi on 29th September.
ECGC Pays Dividend of Rs. 72.50 Cr.

Commerce and Industry Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman acknowledged on behalf of Government of India a dividend of Rs. 72.50 Cr from ECGC Limited for the year 2016-17. ECGC has a made a profit before tax of Rs. 407 Cr after settling claims to exporter and banks for Rs. 865 Cr. Gross premium income declined by 4% despite the introduction of average discount of 17% to exporters with effect from April 2017. The net worth of the company rose to Rs. 3619 Cr and the investment amount were Rs. 8025 Cr.
